I was rocking until 2 a.m. during my banking internship, and man, it was a blast!

I had a blast this summer interning in the investment banking division of a major American investment bank. It was ten weeks packed with action, but let me tell you, it was nothing short of an adrenaline-fueled rollercoaster!

Now, people love to gripe about the long hours in banking, but for me, it was like diving headfirst into a thrilling adventure. Sure, there were a few nights where the clock struck 3 a.m., and maybe even a couple of wild ones stretching to 4 a.m., but I thrived on the intensity. Bring it on!

When you're a summer analyst in investment banking, embracing the grind is just part of the gig. Everyone in the program who understood where it could take them was totally on board. Sure, there was a dropout at another bank, but I reckon they didn't quite get the memo on what these internships entail. I practically knew every intern at my bank, and we were all vibing with the workload just fine.

The bank itself was super mindful of the interns' work hours. You could tell they genuinely cared about us. I never felt pressured to stay late, and there were even times when they encouraged me to head home after midnight. Plus, when I had some personal stuff going on during the internship, they were incredibly understanding and told me to take all the time I needed. They were real MVPs when it came to accommodating my needs.

And guess what? I got offered a full-time gig, and you bet I'm coming back after graduation. Offers were like gold dust this year – only about 60% of interns in my bank's IBD got one, and it was even lower in other banks, at a measly 33%. Offer day was pure pandemonium, with some interns feeling blue about not snagging anything. But hey, most folks are mature enough to know the drill – nobody held it against the bank. We all understood that some teams had spots and others didn't. Sometimes, it's just luck of the draw!
